hi, I’m brittney elizabeth!
Hello! I’m Brittney Elizabeth Stoneburg, an earth scientist and science communicator who transforms complex research into engaging public experience, whether that's through exhibitions, digital media, or field-based storytelling. With over a decade of experience in natural history museums, from the badlands of New Mexico to the glacial fjords of Southeast Alaska, I make science accessible, relevant, and compelling for diverse audiences and institutional partners.
I currently serve as the Collections and Communications Manager at the Western Science Center in Southern California, where I sit at the intersection of scientific research, collections stewardship, and public engagement. In this role, I lead the museum’s communications strategy and oversee a scientific collection of more than 1.2 million objects, while partnering with internal and external researchers to bring their work to life through exhibitions, educational programming, and public engagement initiatives. I am also a 2025–2026 NSF PolarSTEAM Educator Fellow and cofounder of Cosplay for Science, an initiative dedicated to making science (and scientists themselves!) more accessible through pop culture.
Trained as a vertebrate paleontologist and taxonomist, I now seek to focus my research efforts on remote sensing and drone-based data collection in extreme environments, with an emphasis on polar and marine systems.
